Our Classes

Math Monkey™ classes are designed to give your children the ultimate advantage. With a curriculum that is both fun and challenging, your little monkey will be excited to come back each week. Kids will ascend through the five Math Monkey "Troops." Each troop builds on the concepts learned in the previous troop. It's time to challenge your little learner and find the appropriate class below.

Welcome to the Jungle - Lemurs– Designed to build early number sense and mental math techniques. Students will be adding and subtracting single and double digits, learning the concept of multiplication, time and money. (Recommended for K-1st Grade)

Time is Money 1 - Lemurs -  Students will understand the beginnings of reading an analog clock as well as the value of coins and bills. (Recommended for K-1st grade)

Jungle Swing 1 - Lemurs – Designed to enable kids to not use their fingers when adding and subtracting. Focuses on addition using complements of 10, number splitting for left to right addition and subtraction,  and the technique of All from 9, Last from 10 when subtracting. (Recommended for 1st – 2nd Grade)

Look Ma, No Hands - Chimpanzees – Focuses on mental addition and subtraction.  Students will be learning the complements of 10 to add and subtract larger numbers and to perform calculations from left to right. (Recommended for 1st-3rd Grade)

Time is Money 2 - Chimpanzees – Focuses on real-life math using money and time as the basis.  Students will learn the Vedic technique of All from 9, Last from 10 and other techniques to make change and calculate time. (Recommended for 1st-3rd Grade)

Jungle Swing 2 - Chimpanzees –Students will understand how to recognize patterns and repeated addition as a precursor to multiplication, mental doubling, missing addends. (Recommended for 1st – 3rd Grade)

Not All Thumbs - Orangutans – Using Vedic math techniques  for mental addition and subtraction. Students will learn how to “look ahead” for addition and subtraction going from left to right. Really concentrates on the mental aspect and introduces pre-algebra techniques (positive and negative numbers). (Recommended for 2nd-4th Grade)

Multiplying Monkeys 1 - Orangutans – Using Vedic math techniques  for mental multiplication. Students will learn how numbers relate to each other through doubling and halving, the Magic of 9 and 11, and Nikhilam multiplication. (Recommended for 3rd-4th Grade)

Real Life Safari 1 - Orangutans -  Students will learn how to translate words into meaningful math expressions to solve real-world word problems using a 5-step process. (Recommended for 4th-6th Grade)

Multiplying Monkeys 2 - Baboons – Using Vedic math techniques for mentally multiplying double and triple digit numbers. Students will use doubling and halving techniques and Nikhilam multiplication to solve problems. (Recommended for 3rd-7th Grade)

Banana Splits - Baboons – Fractions and decimals are the focus of this class using Vedic math techniques to reduce the number of steps to arrive at the correct answer. (Recommended for 4th – 7th  Grade)

Real Life Safari 2 - Baboons – This class uses the Vedic math techniques that they have already learned to translate words into math to solve word problems. (Recommended for 4th – 7th Grade)

Multiplying Monkeys 3 - Gorillas – Advanced Vedic math techniques.  Students will learn about Vedic techniques including triple digit and higher multiplication, division, and other upper level math techniques. (Recommended for 4th- 7th Grade)

Divide & Conquer - Gorillas -  This class uses Vedic math techniques to solve division problems as well as testing for divisibility and pre-algebra techniques of combining positive and negative integers. (Recommended for 5th – 7th Grade)

Monkey See, Monkey Do - Gorillas – All mental Vedic techniques is the focus of this class to build the confidence and speed of our older students. (Recommended for 5th – 7th Grade)

Lemur Troop

Our first group of Math Monkeys will be challenged to build their mathematical literacy using mental workouts designed to improve concentration and begin developing the logical thinking necessary for advanced mathematics.

Chimpanzee Troop

These growing Math Monkeys will be challenged to think mathematically and build logical and critical thinking skills using a carefully designed series of games and mental exercises. Children will become efficient in the early math skills needed to advance.

Orangutan Troop

This group of intermediate Math Monkeys will build on their critical thinking and mental agility through the uniquely designed Math Monkey games and activities. Children will focus on mental techniques for speed and accuracy, as well as expand on the early math skills needed for advanced mathematics.

Baboon Troop

The building blocks for more advanced math are piling up as Math Monkeys in this group begin to explore higher-order thinking in concert with their math instruction. Children will learn techniques for extending their basic skills including mental techniques for speed and accuracy among other needed math skills.

Gorilla Troop

The experienced Math Monkeys in this group will continue to experience the hands-on/minds-on activity based learning found at Math Monkey. Through both inquiry and modeling children will get to experiment with more advanced math concepts while continuing to hone the basic skills needed to succeed in advanced mathematics.
