Math Monkey and Mad Science Partner Up!
We are proud to announce our newest partnership with Mad Science of Las Vegas. Math and science just naturally go together, so it was a no-brainer to form this new relationship. Mad Science has an amazing program to motivate students to explore all areas of science in a fun environment. We have day camps coming up at our center on February 15th (Cell City) and February 19th (Science of Sports) from 9 am to 3 pm (Presidents’ Day and Staff In-Service). There is also before care available at 8 am. Each full day is $85, but there are discounts available for coming both days as well as sibling discounts. Mad Science is also offering a 6-week after-school program on Thursdays from 5:15-6:15 pm at Math Monkey starting in February. Please contact Mad Science directly at 257-6231 if you are interested in more information or enrolling in this program.
Pre-School Program for 4-5 Year Olds
Do you have a student who will be entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2010? Would you like to give them a head start with math, reading and science? Math Monkey and Mad Science would like to invite your child to a fun learning experience where they will begin their school careers with confidence. This two hour twice per week program for six weeks will include basic number counting, skip counting, understanding the number line and other techniques to have them believe that they can perform math calculations mentally and not have to rely on fingers or objects. Our wonderful early childhood educator, Kerry Mathes, will be teaching phonics, word recognition and a love of reading. She is also our wonderful math teacher. Our science portion will be taught by our partners from Mad Science who have programs for our pre-school students that are loaded with experiments and amazing demonstrations. Classes will be twice per week either M/W or T/Th from 10 am to Noon. We will provide a small snack/drink as well. We would like to begin this program the week of February 22. How is Math Monkey different from traditional tutoring centers?
Math Monkey is a supplemental math education center designed to teach our students in a small classroom setting. We teach children methods to perform mathematical calculations that they would not normally learn in their regular school environment.
Not every child is "wired" the same way, so they need to be exposed to alternative ways to solve math problems. Math Monkey uses ancient Vedic Math techniques that have been around for over 3,000 years. Steps to solve problems are condensed and can be done mentally. It is very important for children to exercise the mind more than the pencil or calculator. All tutoring is pre-scheduled with the same tutor each time on the same day and time according to your schedule.
